Trump Disputes Photo Of Resort He Owns, Posts Fourteen Others To Prove It Looks Fine

Former President Donald Trump accused The New York Times this week of digitally altering an aerial photograph of his Trump National Doral Miami resort, a property he has owned since 1992, visited hundreds of times, and named after himself.

The Times published the photograph as part of a report on the resort's infrastructure and landscaping. Trump, in a series of Truth Social posts beginning Tuesday evening, called the image "DOCTORED," "FAKE," "an embarrassment to journalism and to golf," and, in a post that appeared to be written after the others but published before them, "POSSIBLY THE GREATEST MEDIA HOAX SINCE THEY SAID NAPOLEON WAS SHORT."

To refute the photograph, Trump posted fourteen additional photographs of the property. Three were taken from a helicopter he was on. Two were labeled "REAL DORAL" in Impact font. One appeared to be a stock image of a golf course in Scotland. One was a screenshot of a Yelp review that gave the resort four stars and noted that the towels were "surprisingly thin."

"I know what Doral looks like," Trump wrote in the fourteenth post. "I built it. I own it. My name is on it in letters you can see from the turnpike. The Fake News Times made it look smaller and also greener. I don't know how they did it but they did."

The Times declined to specify which software it uses to resize presidential golf courses.

Eric Trump, who serves as Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and has described Doral publicly as "one of the most beautiful properties in the world, honestly maybe the most," was asked whether the photographs his father posted were taken at Doral specifically. He said they were "totally Doral" and then asked the reporter where they went to college.

Media forensics researchers who examined both images said the Times photograph appeared unaltered and that the main visual difference between it and Trump's posted photographs was that Trump's photographs were taken from angles that excluded the parking structure on the north end of the property.

Trump posted a fifteenth photograph at 2:14 a.m. It was a picture of the parking structure, captioned "BEAUTIFUL."

The Times has not issued a correction. Doral's landscaping has not commented.
